about us

ASSOCIATION BARDINOS SOS

We are an organization mainly for the rescue of Bardino and mixed breed dogs, but we help all dogs in danger regardless of their breed and we also try to collaborate with other associations.

We are a team of people who love Bardino dogs and try to spread information about them so that as many people as possible get to know them and discover how wonderfully loyal, intelligent and affectionate they are.

As its name suggests, the “Bardino Majorero” breed is originally from the island of Fuerteventura (Canary Islands – Spain) and it is here that we operate.

The Bardino is a dog that unfortunately suffers abuse and mistreatment. Many spend their whole lives chained, suffering from hunger, thirst, heat and loneliness; others abandoned to their fate. Entire litters thrown into the garbage or in the middle of nowhere.

The shelters are saturated, we save as many as we can and we look for ideal adopters on the island or in other countries.

PROJECT “LOS PERROS DEL SOL”

“Los perros del sol” is a project aiming to improve the lives of abandoned dogs in Fuerteventura, through rehabilitation, responsible and conscious adoption, and prevention of abandonment and abuse.

It is an animal shelter that hopes to self-finance with small internal commercial activities, which provide not only an economic influx for the canine tenants, but also a place where humans can fill their hearts with pleasant and formative experiences.

In the adoption center there will be a dedicated area for adopting families, so they will have time to get to know and be known by the dog in a safe and welcoming environment. There will also be a rehabilitation center for both physical and emotional dogs. In addition, a veterinary center, an integrative medicine center, a physiotherapist and a sterilization center open to the public at affordable prices.

There will also be an auditorium to hold courses for future adopters and training for volunteers, but above all dissemination conferences aimed at schools to make them know the canine world and therefore the prevention of mistreatment and abandonment which is such a serious problem in our island. Children are the future!
